Getting Started with Microsoft Teams Mobile: Adding participants to an existing chat
Adding additional people to a chat in Microsoft Teams Mobile
In Microsoft Teams Mobile, it’s possible to add people to a chat after it’s been started, including turning an individual one-on-one chat into a group chat or adding new people to an existing group chat. When adding new people to an existing group chat, you even have the option to share some (or all) of the chat’s history with the newly added participants.
NOTE: When converting an individual chat to a group chat, the option to share the chat history with newly added participants is not available.
The process for adding people to a chat in the mobile version of Microsoft Teams is different, depending on what operating system your mobile device uses. The following accordions walk you through the process of converting an individual chat to a group chat and adding more people to a group chat in both iOS and Android.
To view the settings for the chat, at the top of the screen,
Tap the chat name or name of person you’re chatting with, as shown in the following screenshot:
To convert the chat to a group chat, at the bottom of the chat details,
Tap Create a new group chat
To start adding someone to the chat, in the To: field at the top of the screen,
type the name or username of the person you want to add to the chat
To select the person you want to add to the chat, in the drop-down list below the To: field.
Tap the name of the person
Repeat steps c and d as necessary to add more people to the chat.
To start the process of converting a solo chat to a group chat, in the upper right corner of the screen,
Tap, Tap Create group chat
To start adding someone to the chat, in the To: field at the top of the screen,
type the name or username of the person you want to add to the chat
To select the person you want to add to the chat, in the drop-down list below the To: field.
Tap the name of the person
Repeat steps c and d as necessary to add more people to the chat.
To view the settings for the chat, at the top of the screen,

To start adding someone to the chat, at the top of the list of participants,
Tap
To search for someone to add, in the Add: field,
type the name or username of the person you want to add
To select the person you want to add, in the Suggestions list,
Tap on the person you want to add to the chat
Repeat steps c and d to add more people to the chat, if desired.
To select how much chat history should be shared, underneath the Add: field,
Tap Share chat history, Tap desired chat history length
To finish adding people to the chat, at the top right corner of the screen
Tap Done
To start adding more people to a group chat,
Tap, Tap Chat details
To add a person to the chat, near the upper right corner of the screen,
Tap
To search for someone to add, in the Add: field,
type the name or username of the person you want to add
To select the person you want to add, in the Suggestions list,
Tap on the person you want to add to the chat
Repeat steps c and d to add more people to the chat, if desired.
To select how much chat history should be shared, underneath the Add: field,
Tap Share chat history, Tap desired chat history length
To finish adding people to the chat, at the top right corner of the screen,
