In the mid-19th century, an interesting figure appeared in Lawrence County: George Donaldson - Scottish citizen, world traveler, early conservationist. When he died in Scotland without an Indiana-recognized will, he left behind over 180 acres filled with virgin forest, fauna and caves that called to Indiana University researchers.
