Get involved in McKinney Law alumni activities

From continuing legal education programs to evening receptions and local events, there are many opportunities for you to reconnect with your school and fellow alumni.

You can also volunteer at the law school by mentoring current students, judging moot court competitions , conducting mock interviews, or a variety of other activities. Doing so is not only a great way to give back; it’s also a good opportunity to find your next employee.

If you need a duplicate diploma, please visit IUPUI Student Central: https://studentcentral.iupui.edu/grades-progress/graduation-diplomas/order-duplicate-diploma/index.html. The Office of Student Affairs at the law school cannot provide duplicate diplomas.

To request an official transcript, the directions for making such a request can be found on the transcript request page: https://transcripts.iu.edu/.

For letters of good standing, degree verification, copies of admission applications, transcripts related to bar inquires (UBE), or Dean’s Certification for a state bar exam, the request should be sent to the law school’s Office of Student Affairs at this e-mail address: osalaw@iupui.edu.

Alfred Degrafinreid II, '12

Serves as Associate Vice Chancellor at Vanderbilt University

Politics is part of what makes Alfred Degrafinreid II who he is. Degrafinreid envisioned working for an elected official after completing his legal education at IU McKinney; he’d done that after completing his undergraduate and graduate degrees at Tennessee State University. It’s a goal he achieved and he’s still using the skills he developed working in that arena in his current role.

Puruda Kothari, ’18, had long been intrigued by the idea of working in the field of intellectual property law, and although she aspired to work in this area, she never considered it to be a potential part of her future. Her career path demonstrates Kothari was mistaken.

Carlton Martin, J.D. '12

Pro Bono Manager and Counsel, National Homelessness Law Center in Washington, D.C.

Perhaps the path that led Carlton Martin, J.D. '12, to his role as Pro Bono Manager and Counsel at the National Homelessness Law Center in Washington, D.C., began while he was an undergraduate student at IU Bloomington. Martin received a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology/African American and African Diaspora Studies. He wasn’t necessarily thinking about a career as a lawyer, but key people in his life urged him in that direction.
